For immediate release
Ottawa, June 11, 2012 – Ottawa Folk Festival organizers today announced yet another world-class act in an ever-growing line-up of music icons. Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac fame has been confirmed to appear at the festival on September 7 at 9:30 p.m.
When Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, he helped propel the group to superstar status with his versatile voice, his wide-ranging guitar stylings and his stellar song-writing. Whether massive hit singles like Don’t Stop or stunning show stoppers like I’m So Afraid, Buckingham’s songs stuck with listeners and made Fleetwood Mac one of the best-selling rock groups of all time and one of the best live acts of the 1970s and ‘80s. With Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham recorded (and co–produced) six studio albums that have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. Since 1981, he has released six studio albums and one live album of his own material. For many of these albums the multi-talented Buckingham played all of the instruments.
His most recent solo album, The Seeds We Sow (2011) is not the work of an artist resting on his laurels. In fact it features a mix of beautiful ballads, folksy tunes and some outright rockers. Throughout the album the elements of Buckingham’s artistry that elevated Fleetwood Mac are on full display. In concert at this year’s Ottawa Folk Festival, expect Lindsey Buckingham to mix it up between his solo career and Fleetwood Mac hits for an unforgettable live show.
