Ottawa Folk Festival Facts and Figures

Founded in 1994, the Ottawa Folk Festival was inspired by Ottawa’s thriving folk scene.  The event is modeled on long-standing major Canadian folk festivals and features multifaceted artistic disciplines and an inclusive programming philosophy.

Based in the nation’s capital (population approx. 1,000,000) and centrally located between Montreal and Toronto (110 miles west of Montreal and 220 miles east of Toronto), the organization is a fast-rising star in the festival scene for these reasons:

  • Income: 33.5% – $60K to $99K and 29.8% over $100K
  • 92% high overall satisfaction
  • 39% in 2012 were first time attendees
  • 92% satisfaction with Green initiatives on sit

The 20th anniversary of the festival will take place September 10-14, 2014 at Hog’s Back Park in the heart of Ottawa.
